Podiatric Surgery
Podiatric Surgery focuses on diseases and injuries below the ankle.
Similar to orthopedic surgery, podiatric surgery involves the surgical treatment of the skeletal joints, bones, muscles and connective tissue; however, podiatric surgery specializes in such treatment below the ankle.
As with orthopedic surgery, podiatric surgery is often considered relatively invasive and complex, and the obvious, constant stresses that a patient’s foot or feet will experience throughout their lifetime, places considerable importance on the effective correction, treatment and care of such physiology.
First Street Surgical Center boasts the state of the art equipment, and the stringent infection control policies that enable such procedures to be performed here, efficiently, effectively and with the surgeons’ utmost confidence of postoperative care.
The Podiatric surgeons who have privileges at First Street Surgical Center routinely treat issues with the metatarsals (toe bones) and joints within the foot, plantar fasciitus, bones grafts and the like. While First Street Surgical Center can normally accommodate inpatient services for podiatric procedures, First Street Hospital accommodates those procedures with a higher degree of acuity and those which may require post operative pain management or other post operative observation.
Much of the equipment that had been hand selected by our physician owners to best accommodate the needs of our orthopedic patients, is also used in the relatively complex podiatric procedures, ensuring that the highest degree of care and the use of the most up to date equipment is part of a First Street Surgical Center podiatric patients’ experience at our facility. |
